230405 - Day 1
The trip’s been going quite nice so far. I met a nice guy at the airport from Belarus and we bought (struggled to buy) sim cards together and then had coffee before going our seperate ways. Then I took a bus to the railway station. The scale of Beijing is enormous. It felt like every other building was twice the size of Stockholm’s largest. And luxurious, too. Inside though, mostly empty space. The airport seemed largely vacant. Now I’m on a train towards Wudangshanxi. The contrast between the country-side and Beijing is glaring. Here there’s just endless fields, every now and then a small collection of maybe 100 1-story rough white houses, with sundamaged red roofs. This isn’t even the “real” countryside, I suppose, considering the railway.
